Fact: Black voters out number white voters in early "in person" voting by a 26 to 1 margin. That just seems astonishing to me, but I've heard this now several times.
Fact: White voters out number minority voters in absentee mail in ballots by a large number.
Fact: The GOP voter suppression campaign is targeting minority voters, by limiting early in person voting, while leaving absentee ballot voting alone.
So, I agree that we continue to fight this bullshit, but at the same time, why not beat them at their own game?
I hear that black church congregations like to go together to vote after Sunday services. I think that is wonderful and probably builds a great sense of community. But if they are trying to suppress the vote, fight back in ways you can.
Fuck them GOP assholes. Why don't you folks have a Sunday lunch after services instead of an excursion to the polls, and sit down and fill out absentee ballots as a group, and send them in? Hell, turn this on its head, and beat them at their own game.
What are they going to do if minority vote equals white vote in absentee ballots? Beat them at there own game.
I can see how this can be viewed as giving in, but it can also be viewed as fighting back and winning. This country desperately needs a full evaluation of its voting and voter registration laws. And I hope that happens after this election. But in the mean time, lets make sure all votes are cast.
If your in person vote options are being restricted in your state, in this election, then file an absentee ballot if your state allows it.
